Holiday Season

During the holiday season, the White House’s 40-foot national Christmas tree had a little mishap. It toppled over due to strong winds just two days before the annual tree lighting ceremony with President Biden. Some people on social media, particularly conservatives, saw this as a perfect metaphor for the current administration. A political cartoon circulating online also portrays the incident as a representation of “Bidenomics” dragging down the U.S. economy, with Joe Biden admitting, “I killed it.”

A Symbolic Fall

The incident has sparked discussions about symbolism. The President literally falling down, much like the massive Christmas tree, raises questions about the symbolism of this event. The “New York Times” even had a headline this morning that read, “The National Christmas Tree Fell Over: Insert Metaphor Here.” People wonder if it symbolizes President Biden’s economic policies or the pressures of the holiday season. The U.S. Park Service has stated that the tree may not be salvageable at this point. Overall, it hasn’t been a good year for President Biden when it comes to Christmas trees. He was heckled just last week at an annual tree lighting ceremony in Nantucket. So, before we dismiss the mockery surrounding this incident at the Biden White House, let’s remember how Melania Trump was ruthlessly mocked for her White House decorations by the left. It seems like a return serve, highlighting the challenges of having anything nice without something getting messed up.

A Repetition of History

This incident with the Christmas tree falling over is reminiscent of a similar event that happened in the past—the birthday cake metaphorically going up in flames. It raises the question of thought process and attention to detail. If they can’t handle getting the little things right, can we trust them to prepare and handle larger matters such as national security and terror attacks?

Censorship by Big Tech

Another topic of concern is the censorship by big tech companies. A study conducted by the Media Research Center found that Republican candidates were censored a combined 126 times on social media platforms this year. This censorship includes fact-checks, content removal, and account suspensions. Many people view this as a form of election interference. The usual suspects—YouTube, Google, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok—have all engaged in censoring conservative voices. The list of censored candidates ranges from Vivek Ramaswamy to R.F.K. Jr. and even includes Jill Stein. It’s disheartening to see big tech companies continue to try to tip the scales in favor of Democrats, especially after the backlash they faced during the previous election. However, voters are becoming more aware of these tactics, and they won’t let big tech get away with it.

Fighting Back Against Censorship

The best way to fight back against this censorship is to shed light on the issue and have conversations about it. Transparency and awareness are crucial. It’s astonishing to see these big tech companies, after all the damage to their brand in the previous election, persist in engaging in these practices. Many people view them as activists rather than unbiased platforms serving their customers. Their campaign contributions also suggest a bias towards the Democratic party, further fueling concerns of their motives.
