Education Secretary Butchers Ronald Reagan Quote

Education Secretary Cardonna is feeling heat after butchering a quote from Ronald Reagan. Cardonna was talking about school funding challenges and invoked the President’s words.

“As I think President Reagan said, we’re from the government, we’re here to help. There is — there are resources there and a playbook that could support work you are doing, count on us as a partner in this.”

That is not what Reagan said, many on social media quick to point out. Education Secretary left out important context.

Reagan’s Actual Words

“The nine most terrifying words in the English language are, ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help.'”

David:

Okay, I have to throw this in there, Michael Reagan is watching right now and started texting me, his father was clear about the tent when government is the overlord. What Cardonna is talking about, government taking over the role they should never have. They are not in a friendly state, they have education, they have charter schools, choice, more option for parents and the left is usurping back. Need to maintain cartel, Randi Weingarten, this is about turning narrative and lying about government and its role, they just happened to choose Reagan’s words. Even if you are on the left, you know what Reagan’s words were, nine scariest words, ‘I’m here from the government and I’m here to help,’ full stop.”

Emily:

This underscores the point that there is no more incompetent body than our government. Here is someone who is supposed to represent because it is abysmal and assuring us, the government will answer questions, absolutely not. The bloated albatross, the worst, most frightening thing on the planet is them as the answer and underscore again by that. It is just embarrassing.

Michele Tafoya:

In Minnesota, where I live, the whole logo or slogan was “Let’s fully fund education.” Let’s fully fund. What does that mean? Can anyone tell me what fully funded mean? You keep, keep, keep, keep funding, which relies on one entity, the government. Taxpayers give money and figure out how to spend it, fully fund education. What does that mean? Gives you carte blanche to do and spend ever how much you want in failing schools. There are some excellent schools, but this is a big problem and you are right, he exemplified how bad it is.

Emily:

In Minneapolis, not even 1-10 are proficient in math. New York state had lower standards across the state to ensure teachers have no basic fundamentals either.

Harris:

One letter, he can spell.

Kayleigh:

Secretary of Education had no education in conservative philosophy or presidents like Ronald Reagan. One thing he said, scarier part than him getting Reagan wrong. He wants to make Department of Education more accessible, who was Biden’s Department of Education more accessible? It created an office to coordinate on book bans, that is not a book ban coordinator, that is a porn enforcer. It is pornography. Porn enforcer in.
